Deb Sarles Studio Potter, Instructor

With a fascination of clay since childhood, I've learned basic wheel and table skills at local art

centers. Over the past 20 years I've made a transition - student to teacher to studio potter.

For me, nature provides unmatched textures, glaze formulations, inspiration. My work is simple,

mostly functional. It's fun to mix thrown, hand built pieces - never do the same thing too many

times. In this modern, plastic world, pottery provides a way to explore diversity, and for me,

therapeutic relaxation. I find contentment in taking raw clay earth and forming pieces that will

express ideas and feeling for many years.
